Replacing an Old Yale YDM 4109 with the New Yale YDM 7220 on an Aluminium Door

We recently replaced an older Yale YDM 4109 digital door lock with the new Yale YDM 7220 fingerprint lock on an aluminium door.

The Yale YDM 4109 has been a popular fingerprint lock for years, but if you are looking to upgrade, the Yale YDM 7220 is one of the best current options from Yale NZ. It is Yale’s latest fingerprint door lock and offers a more modern design, improved fingerprint sensor, and added key tag reader.

One of the biggest advantages of upgrading from the YDM 4109 to the YDM 7220 is that both models share a very similar drilling template. In most cases, no additional drilling is required, making the replacement cleaner and easier compared with changing to a completely different lock.

Optional Yale Home Module and Yale Connect Plus Hub 2 are also available for App control and Home WiFi connection. 

Because the YDM 4109 has a more squared-edge design, while the Yale YDM 7220 has a slightly more rounded body, minor marks left by the old lock may still be visible after replacement. This can depend on the door finish, and how long the old lock has been fitted.
