The Samsung SHP-R80 provides a simple, connected solution for your home, without the need for modules or hubs. Connect straight to your Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only) router and send digital keys via the smartphone app, select a time frame for access (single or multiple days between certain times) or send a one-time PIN code which is automatically deleted after the first use.

-Do fingerprint locks work for everyone?

Fingerprint technology works for most people, but not 100% of the population.

  • Young children (5 and under): Their fingerprints and body chemistry are often not developed enough for reliable scanning.

  • People with worn fingerprints: Trades like bricklaying or concreting can erode fingerprints. Sometimes a less-worn finger will still work.

  • Children 6–18 years: Because their fingerprint patterns are still growing, they may need to re-register their fingers every 6 months or so.

Other factors can also affect scan quality, such as:

  • Blood circulation issues

  • Certain medications (e.g. strong blood thinners or pain medications)

  • Very dry skin

  • Metallic residues on fingers (e.g. from metalwork)

These effects can vary from person to person and even from time to time.
