Fingerprint technology works for most people, but not 100% of the population.

Young children (5 and under): Their fingerprints and body chemistry are often not developed enough for reliable scanning.

People with worn fingerprints: Trades like bricklaying or concreting can erode fingerprints. Sometimes a less-worn finger will still work.

Children 6–18 years: Because their fingerprint patterns are still growing, they may need to re-register their fingers every 6 months or so.
Other factors can also affect scan quality, such as:

Certain medications (e.g. strong blood thinners or pain medications)
