Yale ByYou Pro Smart Lock Retrofit on an Aluminium Door

For this job, we retrofitted a Yale ByYou Pro smart lock on an aluminium door, replacing a Yale Induro 4-point mortice lock with 50mm backset.

The Yale ByYou Pro is not currently available in New Zealand market, the client purchased the lock from Australia. It is a very nice smart lock with PIN code, key tag and fingerprint access. One feature we really like is the fingerprint sensor built into the handle, which makes unlocking the door quick and easy. Hopefully, this model will become available in New Zealand soon.

This was not a simple swap-over. The Yale Induro 4-point lock uses a very different drilling template compared with the Yale ByYou Pro. To make the new lock fit properly, we removed the 4-point rods from door cavity, made new cut-outs on the aluminium door, and carefully prepared the door for the new lock body and exterior/interior assemblies.

The new Yale ByYou Pro smart lock fully covered the existing cut-outs and marks left by the old Induro lock, giving the door a clean and tidy finish. We also replaced the strike plate so the new lock can operate smoothly and latch correctly.

Retrofit jobs like this require proper planning and experience, especially on aluminium doors where there is very little room for error. Every smart lock has its own drilling template, lock body size and strike plate requirements, so professional installation is highly recommended.
