Replacing an Interlock Optimum Lock with a Schlage Artus Smart Lock

For this installation in Auckland, we replaced an existing Interlock Optimum mortice lock with a 40 mm backset on an aluminium door with a Schlage Artus narrow-profile smart digital lock.

Because the Interlock Optimum and Schlage Artus use different drilling templates, this wasn’t a simple straight swap. We carefully drilled the additional fixing and cable holes required for the new lock, ensuring everything was correctly aligned and neatly fitted to the aluminium door.

The Schlage Artus offers convenient PIN code and key tag access, as well as mechanical override keys for emergency unlocking. It can also be managed through the Schlage Breeze app using Bluetooth when you’re near the door.

For remote access, the optional Schlage BZ-100 Wi-Fi Bridge can be added. This connects the lock to your home’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, allowing you to control and manage the lock remotely through the app.

The finished installation provides a clean, modern upgrade while adding the convenience of keyless entry and smart access control.
